Prepaid Solar exists so you don’t have to finance a system. You prepay once instead of carrying a solar loan — no monthly loan payment, no interest, and no lien taken out against your home to pay for panels. Your price is locked for the term with no energy escalator, so it can’t drift upward the way an escalating agreement does.
A lease means you rent equipment indefinitely and hand it back at the end. This is a prepaid energy agreement: you prepay for the energy the system produces, our financing partner holds the system during the term and carries the monitoring, insurance and production guarantee — and then the system comes to you. You are not renting your roof out, and there is no sales tax on the energy under this structure.
At year 6, ownership of the system and all associated warranties transfers to you at no additional cost. A few months beforehand you receive a transfer notice; you sign and return it, and your project manager walks you through it. From that point the system is yours — and so is responsibility for maintaining it.
Prepaying can cost you less than buying the same system outright. Our financing partner captures a share of the tax-credit value on the equipment and passes it through to you. Paying cash yourself means paying the full price with none of that value passed through — and it leaves you owning the maintenance, monitoring and insurance from day one instead of year 6. How much depends on your equipment and location. There are three tiers: 17% standard, 25% when a single qualifying factor applies (Energy Community or Domestic Content), and 30% only when both apply. Most homeowners land near 25%. It is up to 30% — not a promise of 30%.
Maintenance, monitoring, insurance, the production guarantee and the equipment warranties are included for the first six years, carried by our financing partner rather than billed to you. If you sell the house before year 6, the agreement is assumable and transfers with the property (a $250 assignment fee applies).

The prepaid vehicle is a Prepaid PPA through HDM, our financing partner. HDM provides the production guarantee, proactive monitoring, insurance, price caps, and system underwriting bundled into the term — those protections are HDM’s, not GreeMpower’s. GreeMpower owns the install, the named Project Manager relationship, and the written guarantee on our own field work. Your contract names HDM directly.
Your contract is with HDM, so the transfer is HDM’s process rather than ours. Roughly three to four months out, HDM mails the transfer notice to the address on the agreement. Nothing happens automatically — if the signed notice never comes back, the term simply continues, which is why your Project Manager tracks the date and chases it with you. The equipment warranties are assigned to you in that same paperwork, so keep your copy: you will need it for any future claim.
No — it’s up to 30%, and the tiers are set by HDM, not by us. Domestic-content eligibility in particular runs off HDM’s Approved Vendor List: only equipment on that list qualifies, and the list changes over time, so the same home can price differently in a different quarter. Whichever tier your home lands in is confirmed in writing on your proposal — ask to see it there rather than taking a number off a phone call.
